BROTHER and sister Nathan and Courtney Reade showed they are a fighting force not to be messed with after being crowned grand champions at a martial arts event.

The youngsters both returned home to Forres with a haul of gold medals from the Great Britain Tang Soo Do Championships as part of a contingent from the DKMA club.

The school's students were competing as part of the Scottish national team, and helped the squad to victory with their most impressive result in 14 years of competition.

Nathan (10) took the grand champion title for the junior black belt category, while eight-year-old Courtney was overall winner for the junior colour belt events.

It is believed that it is the first times that siblings have achieved a double success at this level, said DKMA instructor Master Warren De-Vry.

He added: ""Those students who had recently achieved medal success at the Scottish championships, proved their quality once again by successfully taking on the best in Britain, despite a long and tiring journey.

"I would like to thank all those who have supported and helped to raise funds for the team."

The Scottish team notched up 15 gold, nine silver and four bronze from their outing to Essex, across the three disciplines of sparring, forms and weapon forms.
