COVE Rangers have chalked up their first Highland League championship triumph. They sealed the title on Saturday with a 3-0 home win over Lossiemouth in their final game. The city club pipped defending champions Keith, who had to settle for second place despite beating Fraserburgh 2-1 thanks to goals by Martin Wood and substitute Mike Fyfe. Deveronvale lost 3-2 at Wick but could still leapfrog Buckie Thistle and finish third if they win their last game. Rothes continued their bright end to the season with a 2-1 win at Brora where Kris Duncan and Kenny Hendry were on target. Results: Brora 1 Rothes 2 Cove and Inverurie contest the Fosters Highland League Cup final on Saturday. Rothes will round off their league season at home to Fort William.
