Sir, – There is so much adverse commentary made about the National Health Service that I thought I would just pop in with a commentary of my own. I had an appointment with an eye specialist at Dr Gray's Hospital, Elgin, on March 4, was admitted as a day patient on March 19, and had a cataract removed from my left eye. I was home the same day, and after a few weeks of administering drops I found I could see quite brilliantly again in that eye. The downside is that I can now see, almost magnified, the lines, wrinkles and imperfections in my 80-year-old face. So thanks to all the staff in the Opthalmology Department for the cheerful, efficient and professional way in which they attended to me and all the other patients. – Yours etc, M.I. Yorke-Goldney (Mrs), 8 Market Street, Forres. |
