ELGIN City pulled off just the boost they needed on Saturday with a 1-0 victory at Forfar.

It was their first win of the season and their tally of four points hoists them into sixth place in Division 3. That eases the pressure of a desperate scramble for some early success. Forfar's Stuart Ferguson was red-carded after 29 minutes and Elgin finally made the man advantage tell on the hour mark when Ross O'Donoghue set up Steve Mackay to net the winner. O'Donoghue was ordered off for a second booking. Elgin will be looking to build on that when they entertain Cowdenbeath this Saturday. For all the latest City news, see Friday's 'The Northern Scot'.
