Elgin Hash House Harriers will be part of almost 3,000 groups taking part in the global event on Sunday, November 5. The group, which do a fun run following a trail of flour through local woods, will do their weekly event in aid of the national charity and are the only group in Scotland to be taking part. The World Run Day event, managed by http://www.runday.com, is in its seventh year and has events in cities across the globe. The Elgin one – which will consist of a mile run through the town centre – is the only Scottish one lined up. Harriers' organiser Malcolm Bradley has encouraged as many people to come along as possible and raise money for people in the developing world. "It's an event unique to us and we would invite any runners or joggers to come along," he said. "We will be selling T-shirts to raise the money and we would invite people back to the pub after the run. "Anyone of any ability is invited along as it's non-competitive and we would hope to raise as much as possible." |
