POLICE are appealing for witnesses after jewellery thieves struck a shop in Cullen on Wednesday.

According to officers, items worth more than £1,000 were taken during the raid.

At around 5pm, the offenders entered Cullen Collectibles on Seafield Street and attempted to distract the owner while the theft took place.

The victim believes the three offenders may possibly have been Turkish or Egyptian.

The first man is described as being in his 40s or 50, with short grey hair, a stocky build and wearing light coloured clothing.

A second man is described as being in his teens to early 20s, with short black hair and possibly facial hair, with a slim build and wearing a sports-type top.

The woman is described as being in her 40s to 50s, with very long black hair and a slim build. She was wearing green-coloured clothing.

The victim said all three spoke with a foreign accent, and they may have been driving a silver Vauxhall Vectra.

Grampian Police are advising all shop owners to take special care and be aware of this type of theft.

Anyone who may have witnessed the theft, or has further information, is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5700.

Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
