That would be the equivalent of swimming from Hopeman to the tip of North Ronaldsay, the northernmost Orkney Island.

The assistant leader of the 1st Hopeman Scout Group (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts) hopes to raise money for fun activities for the children.

"I wanted to do something to get a bit fitter, and I like swimming," said Judith. "I set myself a challenge of doing 10,000 lengths in a year.

"To keep myself motivated, I decided to make it a sponsored swim."

Judith has now passed the 8,100-length mark, and is well on course to complete her challenge.
