Keith oilman's wife rescued by troops

ELITE military troops have rescued the kidnapped wife of a Keith oil worker in the Phillipines.

Luisa Galvez-Morrison was rescued by Scout Ranger troops in an operation on Monday afternoon.

The hair salon owner (34) had been abducted at gunpoint by members of the Abu Sayyaf terror group in Zamboanga Sibugay province.

Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, spokesman for the Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command, said the rescue operation followed reports about the presence of armed men in Barangay Baiwas in Sumisip town.

Three members of the kidnap group were killed during the raid and seven others injured, a local Phillipino news agency reported.

One soldier was wounded during the clash.

Lt Col Cabangbang said Morrison, the common law wife of a Keith man Raymond Morrison (51), suffered leg injuries in the clash.

She is said to be in a safe condition and recovering at the base of the 4th Scout Ranger Battalion.

Mrs Morrison (34), is the owner of RL Salon and Spa and a lives in Barangay Magdaup in Ipil town with her husband, who was working offshore in Malaysia at the time of her kidnapping on September 4.

Mr Morrison's mother Alice lives in Balloch Road in Keith.
