Lucy Lintott-Smith (29), from Elgin, has raised more than £300,000, with the help of friends, over the last 10 years for MND Scotland.

“It’s pretty surreal but I am very honoured,” said Lucy of her award.

She was the youngest person in Scotland to be diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease 10 years ago.

Since then, the Lucy’s Fight group has been behind a number of fundraising events to help fund research into the degenerative condition which sees people lose the nervous functions of their body.

Lucy celebrated 10 years with the condition last November with an anniversary ball at Inchberry Hall.

The former Milne’s High School pupil is a mother of two beautiful children and is also married to her childhood sweetheart.

Lucy thanked “Family, friends and the community” who have been behind her over the last decade.

“Lots of people on Facebook have followed my story and donated, which keeps me going really.”

Lucy admitted she was gutted to miss the awards last Thursday at the Banff Springs Hotel and thanked those who had nominated and voted for her.

And she vowed to continue her fundraising. “You can’t stop me.”
