NOMINATIONS have opened for those wanting to stand for Buckie Community Council.
An interim election is being held following the dissolution of the previous council after its membership fell below the required minimum.
Two people resigned during the group’s August meeting leaving just five members - one fewer than required.
Buckie is the first community council in Moray to be dissolved mid-term in recent years.
An area wide election for community councils will be held in two years time.
Papers are now available for those wanting to stand. They must be submitted by 4pm on Friday, October 14.
If there are more candidates than the 12 seats available, an election will be held on Thursday, November 10.
A minimum of six nominations are required to enable the council to be re-established.
Community councils were allowed to co-opt people but are not permitted to have more than one-third of their members adopted in that manner.
