Police warning on opportunist thefts

POLICE have warned householders to be on their guard for opportunist thefts.

The warning follows an incident in Buckie when a house was broken into and car keys stolen.

The culprit took off in the car belonging to the occupants.

The incident took place some time between 10.45pm on Wednesday (July 20) and 6.45am on the Thursday.

A house in the town's Shearer Road was targeted.

The grey Vauxhall Astra, registration number HY07 NLU, was parked on the drive.

Investigating officer Constable Deborah Price, from Buckie Local Policing Team said: "I would urge householders to keep their homes secure to discourage opportunist thieves."

Anyone with information regarding this incident or saw anything suspicious in the area that evening is asked to contact the police on 0845 600 5700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain annonymous.

Any sightings of the grey Vauxhall Astra registration number HY07 NLU can also be reported on the telephone numbers above.
