A PUBLIC debate and lunch appointment at the Elgin Youth Cafe promise to be two of the highlights from a Scottish Cabinet visit to Moray’s capital tomorrow (Tuesday).

Ministers will meet in Elgin as part of their tour of the country, which also gives people a chance to state their views to some of Scotland’s key political figures.

The cabinet is set to hold a private meeting at Elgin Library at around 9.30am, and will then meet with the Moray Task Force later in the morning.

The first part of a lunch reception will then be staged at the Elgin Youth Café on Francis Place, before the group switches venues again for the second stage of the reception at Cooper Park.

A public discussion will then be held in Elgin Town Hall from 3.30pm.

Debate is set to focus on public service improvements and delivery, and ministers will take part in a question and answer session with members of the audience.

First Minister Alex Salmond said: "I am delighted that cabinet will be meeting for the first time in the cathedral city of Elgin and I am looking forward to taking part in a range of events in and around the town, together with senior colleagues."

Entry to the public discussion is free but spaces are limited. Anyone interested in attending should telephone 0131 244 2952 or register online at https://web.questback.com/scottishgovernment/summercabinetelgin/
