BUCKIE Thistle's first-ever match in the Scottish Challenge Cup will be a tough one away to Division 2 outfit Forfar.

The Highland League champions were given one of two non-league places in the competition, which is under new sponsorship and will now be called the Ramsdens Cup.

Jags make their bow in the tournament at Station Park on Saturday, July 23 to take on Dick Campbell's Forfar, who narrowly missed out on promotion to Division 1 last season.

Meanwhile, the draw has paired two former Highland League clubs together.

Elgin City have been handed an even harder task of making the next round, as they travel to take on holders and recent Scottish Cup finalists Ross County.

With Derek Adams back at the helm at County, the Dingwall club are being tipped as a strong bet for promotion to the SPL and Division 3 City will be massive underdogs at Victoria Park.

The teams met at the same stage of the competition last year, with County winning 2-1 at Borough Briggs.

Joining Buckie as Highland League representatives in the cup are Deveronvale, who may fancy their chances of an upset when they host a Stirling Albion team relegated from Division 1 last year.

Full draw (all ties to be played on Saturday, July 23).
