BUCKIE Thistle returned to the top of the Highland League with a six goal hammering at Fort William.

The Jags were just too strong for the home side and ran out comfortable winners with goals from Paul Napier (2), Lewis Mackinnon, David MacRae, Zander Sutherland and Andy Low.

Forres Mechanics also claimed three points with a fine 2-0 win at Inverurie Locos, their fourth straight victory.

The goals came from Nathan Sharp and a Simon Allan penalty.

Rothes continued their fine start to the season with a good 2-1 home win over Wick Academy.

Sean McIntosh and Michael Fletcher had put the Speysiders 2-0 up before David Allan pulled one back before the break.

Despite strong Wick pressure, Rothes held firm in the second half.

Huntly were also 2-1 winners at Lossiemouth.

Ross Naismith opened the scoring and Russell Guild made it 2-0 before the break.

Lossiemouth could not find a way back into the game and it wasn't until the 90th minute that Ricky Wardrop's strong run saw his shot come back off a post and rebound into the net off Huntly defender Alex Thoirs.

Keith were given a run for their money at Grantown where they just edged Strathspey Thistle 3-2.

The Maroons led 1-0 at the break through Craig McGovern and goals from Dean Donaldson and Jamie Lennox in the second half seemed to have them in easy street.

However, Strathspey hit back through Joe Hardie and Craig Rothney to set up a rousing finish to the game.

In the other Highland League results, Deveronvale thumped Brora Rangers 5-0, Fraserburgh and Clach played out an eight goal thriller, with the home side edging it 5-3.

Nairn County needed a late equaliser in their 2-2 draw with Formartine Utd and Turriff Utd and Cove Rangers also played out a 2-2 draw.
