TWO new signings, a squad of 17 players and more to follow – it’s good news time for Elgin City according to manager Ross Jack.

A buoyant Jack is painting a positive picture for City this year, and is calling for fans to share his optimism and help build a united front at Borough Briggs.

Elgin announced the capture of new signings Daniel Moore and Stuart Leslie this week, along with 15 of last year’s player pool penning or agreeing to new contracts with the club.

The news has ended an air of uncertainty in the town regarding budget restraints, financial difficulties and the potential impact on Jack’s efforts to strengthen the Elgin squad after a promising campaign last year.

The City boss had a spring in his step as he took his squad on their first pre-season training session, and said he and his assistant Barry Wilson were relishing the term ahead of them.

“I just couldn’t wait to get started again. I had those hairs standing up on the back of my neck again,” Jack told ‘The Northern Scot’.

“Elgin City is a proper football club. It’s got real, genuine supporters, who wanted to know who were signing because they care so passionately about it. Barry and I have been working our backsides off through the close season to make sure that we’ve got the right quality to give those supporters the team they want.

“I hope they will get as much pleasure from the signings as we have done by working on these lads and getting them to sign for the club.

“It has been a united effort, the whole thing needs togetherness to take it forward and there’s no point having different factions. We need to pull together and if we all do that we’ve got a right chance next season and for the future.”
