NATHAN Sharp has two reasons for wishing to complete a Forres Mechanics treble in this weekend’s AJG Parcels North of Scotland Cup final.

The big centre half has not only helped Mechanics keep a clean sheet in their last three matches, but he has scored a vital goal in the last two.

And when the Can-Cans take on Caley Thistle at Mosset Park on Sunday, Sharp would dearly love to net for the third game running to make it three cup final victories in a row for the Moray outfit.

The defender has happy memories of his team’s Highland League Cup final triumph over Rothes in May last year, closely followed by a North Cup final victory against Wick four months later.

"If you told me a couple of years ago that I would be in two cup-winning teams with Forres, I’m not sure I’d have believed you," Sharp admits. "But now we’re in our third final, and we’re desperate to keep our winning run going on Sunday."

Former Rothes stopper Sharp was one of the Cans’ scoring heroes in the 3-1 success over Wick at Brora a year ago, though he is wary that a young Inverness team containing players with first-team experience will be tougher opponents this time round.

"Caley are bound to be strong, though you never really know what you are going to get from them.

"The good thing is we are at home. I don’t know what it is about playing at Mosset Park, but we seem to be resilient and it has made us a tough team to beat, so I’m sure we can give Caley a good game."

Charlie Rowley’s side could hardly be in better nick going into their showpiece match. Last Friday’s success over Lossie made it five straight wins for the Cans, and they haven’t conceded a goal in more than five hours of football.
