Former Raith Rovers youngster Graeme Beveridge scored for Elgin City as the Third Division side beat Highland League Keith 3-0 on Saturday.

Beveridge could become City manager Ross Jack's next summer signing after catching the eye with an impressive midfield performance.

The player, who had played three trial matches for the Borough Briggs club, featured for Scottish Junior Cup finalists Musselburgh Athletic last season but is keen for a step-up to senior football.

He opened the scoring after just five minutes of Saturday's Borough Briggs friendly, swerving a shot in off the inside the post after an energetic run through the centre.

Craig Frizzel added a second from Barry Wilson's left wing cross, and Jason Crooks netted a second half penalty.

Keith were missing a total of nine regulars due to holidays, work commitments and illness, but still gave Elgin a stern test.

Elsewhere, Buckie Thistle travelled to Fife to defeat Burntisland Shipyard 5-0, with Craig MacMillan (3), Zander Sutherland and David Macrae getting the goals.

Martin McMullan and Nikki Smith were on target as Lossiemouth defeated Banks O Dee 2-0, while a Kris Duncan goal earned Rothes a 1-1 draw with Hermes.

Forres Mechanics are in action on Tuesday night against Elgin City at Mosset Park, kick off 7.45pm.
