A CHEMICAL leak saw emergency services called to a Moray distillery.

The alarm was raised at Diageo’s Roseisle facility just before 3pm on Sunday.

No-one was injured in the spill, which saw units from Grampian Police and Grampian Fire and Rescue Service in attendance.

A spokesperson for the drinks company said: "I can confirm there was an incident involving a chemical leak at the bio-energy plant at the Roseisle complex.

"The incident was dealt with through the standard on-site emergency procedures and was quickly contained.

"No one was harmed in any way as a result of the incident. The distillery was unaffected and is fully operational as normal."

Opened in October 2010, the £40 million facility was the first of its scale to be opened in Scotland in over 30 years.
