A WALKER who got lost in woodland near Garmouth has just been picked up this afternoon by helicopter.
The man is understood to have set off from Fochabers at about 10am this morning and walked beside the River Spey.
However he is said to have become alarmed after he lost his way and it began to snow.
A coastguard spokesman said they had sent the Inverness-based helicopter after receiving a call for help shortly after 1pm.
Rescue teams were also mobilised from Buckie, Portsoy and Lossiemouth.
The helicopter located the man at 2.35pm and landed nearby.
The coastguard spokesman said: "He was very cold after being out in the snow for four hours. He had become completely disorientated in the woods which is very easy to do in this sort of weather."
