ELGIN and Forres town halls plus Buckie’s Fisherman’s Hall are among eight public buildings which are under threat of closure in Moray.
Proposed council cuts could also see Cullen and Findochty town halls shut, as well as Buckie Town House, Dufftown and Cullen community centres.
The proposals have been released today in a document entitled Bridging the Gap 2018, which outlines how the cash-strapped local authority might save £6.7 million.
In the report it is stated: " The council currently operates ten community centres and six halls throughout out Moray at an annual cost of £500,000.
"A number of the centre and halls would present ideal opportunities for community groups to take ownership via a community Asset transfer (CAT). Failing this they would close."
The report estimates it would save £163,000 within the coming financial year, plus £72,000 the year after by shutting the eight buildings.
