MORAY’S MSP is set to chair an open meeting to discuss the key challenges in regenerating Elgin’s town centre.
The focus will be on how empty shops and vacant first floor properties can be filled.
Richard Lochhead is inviting business owners as well as shoppers to come and share their views.
He said: "There’s been a lot of progress with new independent shops and cafes opening in the smaller units which is really helping to create a buzz and attract folk back into the High Street.
"Some challenges do remain however, with larger units being tougher to fill and a number of first floor properties have been empty for many, many years, which is something that constituents have raised with me.
"I want to get views as to how we can overcome some of these challenges and what steps the authorities can take to make it easier to fill these vacant properties.
"I would encourage anyone with an interest to come along and have their say."
The meeting will take place at the Inkwell on Francis Place on Monday. Doors will open at 5.30pm for a 6pm start.
