A LARGE gorse fire has sprung up near Hopeman, with fire services in attendance this afternoon (Thursday).
The fire at Clashach Quarry is around a kilometre to the east of Hopeman.
Road closures have been put in place at Hopeman Golf Club to Gordounston and Lossiemouth to Silver Sands.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area whilst emergency services are dealing with the situation
A spokesman said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 3.34pm to reports of a large gorse fire at Hopeman in Moray.
“Operations Control immediately mobilised a number of resources to Clashach Quarry, where firefighters currently remain in attendance.”
The quarry lies in the Clashach Covesea Site of Special Scientific Interest.
