Major fire in Keith

A GARAGE fire in Keith has closed the main Aberdeen to Inverness trunk road.

Over 20 firefighters are currently dealing with a blaze at Regent Street.

Four appliances from Rothes, Dufftown, Fochabers and Huntly are at the scene and a command unit and height vehicle are on their way from Aberdeen.

A water carrier is also on route from Buckie.

The incident was reported to Aberdeen Control at 8.52am this morning.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus are using two main jets to tackle the fire.

Ground monitors are also in use.

The blaze is at the DC George garage just off the A96.

Diversions are currently in place as emergency services deal with the incident.

No one has been injured and there are not believed to be any residents within the houses adjacent to the garage.
