UNCERTAINTY hangs over the future of an Elgin hotel after it unexpectedly announced its closure today.
The sudden closure of the Mansion House Hotel was announced on the business' website. It stated that the facility has shut its doors due to "unforeseen financial circumstances".
Members of the public have been directed to creditors.
As stated on the Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) website, the hotel has been made bankrupt.. A creditor petition has also been filed at Elgin Sheriff Court.
According to a spokesman for AiB, which is Scotland's insolvency service, trading has been suspended for the weekend. More details are expected to be made available next week, he said.
The spokesman added: "Work is ongoing to see if the trading business can continue."
