MORAY honoured its military personnel past and present at the seventh annual Armed Forces Day.

Heavy rain cleared just before the parade marched off at 12 noon today along Forres High Street coming to a halt at Grant Park.

Moray Council convener Stewart Cree and Lord Lieutenant of Moray Grenville Johnston addressed the crowd and thanked personnel from RAF Lossiemouth and Kinloss Barracks as well as veterans taking part, for their efforts at home and abroad.

A Tornado aircraft flew overhead to a round of applause from the crowd.

The Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire’s cadet 17 -year-old Ewen Brindle was presented with a certificate and medal from Clare Russell.

Ewan, from Keith will accompany Mrs Russell on her duties over the next year.

As the parade marched off to the sound of Forres and District Pipe Band, people made their way into the park for military displays and refreshments.
