Police appeal over whisky theft

police scotland logoRARE whisky has been taken during a break-in at the Glenglassaugh distillery’s visitor centre.

Police said a number of high value bottles were stolen during the incident, which happened at the Portsoy Distillery between 4.30pm on Tuesday, June 10 and 9.30am the following day.

Among the bottles taken were 37-year-old and 40-year-old Glenglassaugh malt whisky along with bottles of Glenglassaugh Evolution, Tonfa and Revival whisky.

Four pot stills and a quantity of Lyle & Scott jumpers, coloured blue, grey or green with “Glenglassaugh Distillery” embroidered on them, were also stolen.

Constable Geraint Kalies of Banff police office said: “This is a very unusual theft and I am appealing for any witnesses who may have any information regarding the identify of the persons responsible.”

Anyone who is offered whisky or clothing branded with Glenglassaugh Distillery is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
