police scotland logoA MAN has died at the site of a disused factory in Moray.

Police Scotland were called to the former Grampian Country Foods factory in Buckie at about 5pm yesterday (Monday) following a report of a work-related death.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A 43-year-old male died at the scene as a result of his injuries. Enquiries into the incident are at an early stage and police are working closely with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the full circumstances."

The former pork processing plant, situated on Great Western Road, has been disused since its closure in April, 2005, which brought with it the loss of 330 jobs. A Lancashire firm was granted a building warrant for demolition work at the site in October.
