THE Arc Sessions programme for 2018 is preparing to get underway next weekend.
Robyn Stapleton and her band will play Fochabers Institute on Saturday, February 17.
The event is the first of eight gigs planned at the venue over the coming year under the Arc Sessions banner. Tickets are on sale and can be bought online at www.arcsessions.com or from Christie’s Chemist in Fochabers.
Robyn was brought up in the south-west of Scotland and was first introduced to singing through the poetry of Robert Burns. Arc Sessions founder Mhairi Marwick said: “She has fast become one of the most respected singers of Burns’ song. “Robyn has been invited to perform his most famous works on BBC television and radio, alongside Oscar-winning actors, and on legendary radio programme, Desert Island Discs.”
The award-winning musician will perform pieces from her latest album, Songs of Robert Burns, along with Patsy Reid (fiddle), Innes White (guitar) and Alistair Paterson (piano).
Mhairi added: “I first met Robyn at the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year Semi-finals. “We were both lucky enough to get through to the final together where Robyn won the prestigious title in 2014.
“She is an absolutely incredible, first class performer that I’ve had the pleasure of playing with over the years.
“I’m really excited to invite her up to Fochabers, to The Arc Sessions, for the first time.”
The performance starts at 7.30pm. There will be support from the Milne’s High Fiddlers under the leadership of Alexander Davidson.
