Two Elgin men charged after numerous alleged thefts

New Police Scotland logoPOLICE Scotland have charged two men from Elgin over numerous alleged thefts and attempted thefts from commercial premises in the Moray area.

Ten separate incidents were reported to the police between January and March in Elgin and Buckie whereby diesel, tools and other electrical equipment were taken.

Following extensive enquiries undertaken by officers in the Divisional Alcohol & Violence Reduction Unit (DAVRU) the men aged 29 and 32 were arrested in connection with these incidents on Tuesday March 6 and are expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today.

PC Rosanagh Davison, who led enquiries, said: "Thank you to all those who provided information in connection with this investigation.

"Acquisitive crimes in the Moray area are rare so when they do happen we use every resource available to us to detect them.

"It goes without saying that local businesses should be able to operate without the fear of being targeted however it is crucial that owners think about having robust security measures in place to deter potential thieves.

"For further information and advice on protecting your property from acquisitive crime visit the Police Scotland website or call 101."
