ELGIN Community Council has expressed concern about a recent bus change introduced locally by Stagecoach.
Since Monday there is no longer a direct bus link from Elgin to Inverness airport, and travellers to the airport now must change buses in Nairn.
At its meeting yesterday evening, the community council stated there does not appear to be proper provision for airport travellers in the event of the Elgin to Nairn bus running late.
Douglas Clark of Elgin Community Council, who first raised the issue, said after the meeting: "I was told by Stagecoach that there would be a guaranteed connection from Nairn to the airport, but the new timetable contains the words ‘Connection not guaranteed’.
"If the connection is missed, the next bus from Nairn to the airport is an hour later. I hope Stagecoach will monitor the service and report how frequently the connection is made".
The Community Council agreed that Stagecoach should be contacted for clarification as to what instructions have been given to drivers. At its meeting on Tuesday, the community council also discussed the removal by Stagecoach of a bus connection serving Pluscarden Road and Wittet Drive which effects residents attending Dr Gray’s Hospital.
It also decided to hold a special meeting to consider in detail the budget consultation being held by Moray Council.
