Rangers boss Ally McCoist is taking his first team squad to Buckie on July 3.

The Glasgow giants are set to send their first team north to play Jags on Thursday, July 3 (7.30pm) in a pre-season friendly.

Next month’s glamour game could have an extra edge to it, with the Ibrox men taking on a Buckie side wearing the green and white hoops of Rangers’ arch enemy Celtic.

Victoria Park should be packed to capacity for a game which will be keenly anticipated by Jags’ supporters.

The ‘Gers are no strangers to Moray in recent years, having played Elgin City twice after being demoted to Division 3 in 2012-13.

They also drew Forres Mechanics in the Scottish Cup that year, winning 1-0 at Mosset Park, and returned to Elgin for a friendly last summer.

To prepare for their coming Championship season alongside Hearts and Hibs, Rangers start their pre season in the North before heading over to USA and Canada for a 12-day tour.

As well as playing Buckie they also take on Highland League champions Brora Rangers on July 6.

On the club’s website, manager McCoist said: "We enjoyed a successful trip to Northern Scotland last year and we look forward to taking the squad there once again to play Buckie Thistle and Brora Rangers."
