Elgin City dumped by bottom dogs

Queens Park 2, Elgin City 0

ELGIN City remain eight points off the promotion play-offs after slumping 2-0 at bottom of the table Queens Park.

Raymond Jellema was back in goal but he could not stop Elgin slumping to defeat.

Ross Jack's side were looking to build on the previous weekend's 3-1 win over Clyde.

However, injuries meant Jack was only able to name four out of a possible seven subs and one of them was goalkeeper Stewart Black.

Raymond Jellema came back into the starting line up, replacing Black, following suspension.

The game was played at Airdrie Utd's New Broomfield home because of construction work at Hampden Park for the Commonwealth Games.

Paul Gallacher opened the scoring for Queens Park after just six minutes.

Paul Harkins and Ross McKinnon replaced Graeme Beveridge and Ally McKenzie in the second half as Elgin pushed for an equaliser.

The visitors were stunned in injury time as Joao Pereira Vitoria scored a second goal to seal only Queens Park's third league win of the season.

Elgin: Jellema, Beveridge (Harkins), McMullan, Nicolson, Duff, Crighton, Gunn, Masson, Sutherland, Wyness, McKenzie (McKinnon). Not used: Urquhart, Black.
