Football fixtures wiped out by weather

HEAVY snowfall has wiped out the midweek Highland League football fixture card.snow pitch

And the entire Scottish programme has been cancelled by the SPFL after consultation with police and Traffic Scotland.

The effects of the 'Best from the East' wintry snap put paid to Rothes' league match against Wick Academy at MacKessack Park.

Also off are Buckie Thistle's visit to Formartine United and leaders Cove Rangers' clash with Brora, as well as the Highland League Cup tie between Strathspey Thistle and Huntly which had been shelved from the weekend.

The weather is already creating some doubt over Saturday's football matches, with the snow set to remain for days.
