Main penalty save earns Jags a point

WANTAWAY goalkeeper Kevin Main was back in goal for Buckie Thistle.

And he earned them a point at home to title-chasing Formartine Utd when he saved a Stuart Anderson penalty.

Main (31) revealed to 'The Northern Scot' this week that he is seeking a fresh challenge and has handed in a transfer request at Victoria Park.

The club are desperate to keep him and boss Gary Hake handed him a starting place against Steve Paterson's side after missing the last two games.

The 0-0 result was a boost to Buckie after a five goal mauling by Brora in midweek (see SHFLtv highlights below), and it is a further blow to Formartine's dwindling league hopes.

Brora Rangers strengthened their grip on the league with a 2-0 win over Turriff Utd thanks to goals from Ross Tokely and Steven Mackay.

Forres Mechanics' home game with Inverurie Locos was abandoned after less than half an hour due to strong winds at Mosset Park.

Rothes took the lead at Bellslea but Fraserburgh ran out 4-1 winners in the second half.

At Grant Park, Lossiemouth looked to be heading for three points against Strathspey Thistle.

Jordan McBain and Liam Archibald put the Coasters ahead before a Jamie McKinnon own goal and a late strike by John Ross earned the visitors a point.

Keith's trip to Fort William was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Jamie Lennox and Ricky Wardrop were on target for Cove Rangers and Deveronvale in a 1-1 draw which saw both sides reduced to nine men before the end.

Wick were held 1-1 at home by Clach.
