Rab's Rothes can't raise game for cameras

RAB Mulheron’s first match in charge of Rothes was captured by the Highland League TV channel cameras.

The Speysiders lost 6-0 at home to Clach last Wednesday, though a much improved show saw Mulheron’s men lose just 2-0 at Cove Rangers on Saturday.

SHFLtv footage of Rothes’ midweek loss can be viewed below, after coverage of Saturday’s match of the day between Inverurie Locos and Brora Rangers.

It shows all six Clach goals, along with some fine stops by Rothes goalkeeper Ricky Horne – who won last season’s SHFLtv save of the season award.

The main action features champs Brora, who outlined their determination to defend their title with a thumping 5-0 win over the team tipped to give them their closest challenge.

The video also includes interviews by John Innes with Brora boss David Kirkwood, Locos co-manager Scott Buchan and former Elgin and Buckie player Zander Sutherland, who scored twice for Brora in their win.

All the action was covered by SHFLtv ( which produces highlights of Highland league matches from across all north grounds throughout the season.

Saturday’s Highland League programme also included a 3-1 win for Forres Mechanics over Moray rivals Keith at Kynoch Park.

Fraser Forbes netted his first goal for Cans before Matty McDonald levelled. Mechanics came good in the second half, helped by a goal from new signing Dachi Khutsishvili and striker Lee Fraser.

Buckie Thistle bounced back to winnig ways with a fine 2-0 success at home to Nairn County.

Chris Angus and sub Liam Baxter got the Jags goals, while former Buckie skipper Mike Morrison was sent off for the visitors.

Lossiemouth went down 3-0 away to Turriff United, who they meet again in the Scottish Cup next month.

The biggest scoreline of the day was at Fraserburgh, where former Elgin striker Adam MacLeod scored four times for new club Strathspey but still finished on the losing side in a 5-4 defeat.

Deveronvale beat Fort william 2-0, Wick won by the same scoreline at Formartine United, while a last-gasp Clach winner earned a 2-1 success against bottom-of-the-league Huntly.
