FORRES Mechanics have agreed a deal to sign experienced Highland League goal-getter Robbie Duncanson.
The 32-year-old is expected to complete his switch tonight from Huntly to Mechanics on a two-year contract.
Cans’ boss Charlie Rowley is delighted to be on the brink of capturing a proven scorer who he believes will add to his team’s already significant firepower.
“The deal has been agreed and it’s just a matter of the paperwork being registered with the SFA at the weekend,” he said.
“We are extremely happy with the deal we’ve got. It’s not a significant amount of money we’ve had to pay out in terms of the transfer fee.
“If you add the 20-plus goals that he got at Huntly last year to the goalscoring ability we’ve already got in our squad, it shows our intention to not only consolidate our position (6th) in the league but try and maybe pick off another couple of places if possible.”
Duncanson was a regular scorer with previous clubs Clach, Deveronvale, Nairn and Huntly. “I’m hoping he will have that same impact with us,” said Rowley.
Cans’ will host Caley Thistle in a pre-season friendly on July 1 (2pm) and host Islavale five days later as part of the deal to take in Jordan Milne from the Keith club next term. Forres visit Deveronside on the 15th and host Inverness City (18th) and Hermes (22nd) before their first league game at home to Nairn.
