Netsounds Unsigned - we love you guys, you treat us so fine with your videos

Normally this would be the place where we engage in some light riffing on how we utilise Netsounds' articles to bugger off down the pub. However, they've excelled themselves this time - some exclusive and brilliant performances culled live from this month's goNORTH festival. Drinks are on us this time, lads!

Hello! We are delighted to be able to hijack this edition of Netsounds Talk to premier the first two videos from our acoustic sessions we recorded at this year's goNORTH in Inverness.

We were lucky enough to record 10 amazing acts who were showcasing at this year's goNORTH. The lovely people at IG:LU in Inverness offered up exclusive use of their premises and we were joined by students from North Highland College, houdidontblog and the North's finest audio engineer with a Superman style handshake, Calum Martin (CMPS Events) to record acts over 2 days. It's the first time we had all worked together on a project like this but we have a feeling it won't be the last.

We had a shoestring budget (that means no budget), coffee, water, sandwiches, pita breads, borrowed guitars and great results!

Some of the most exciting emerging acts from the Highlands and Islands made the Munro like climb to the top floor at IG:LU including Neon Waltz, Miss Irenie Rose and Eleanor Nicolson alongside Pinact, Dante, The Youth and Young, Charlotte Brimner, Foreignfox, Algernon Doll and award winning singer songwriter Michael Cassidy.

We will be featuring them on our podcast over the coming weeks and they will also be appearing on our Soundcloud page.

However you can see two of these right now exclusively here on What's On North.

First up Glasgow based Miss Irenie Rose who hails from the Isle of Lewis. Her unique and beautiful sound saw her win a Western Isles Battle of The Bands in 2011 and since then she has impressively gone on to play at the likes of Belladrum, Brew at the Bog and goNORTH as well as supporting Ben Howard, Karima Francis and Rachel Sermanni.

The song Miss Irenie performed for us is so fresh that it doesn't even have a title yet! As she says in the video, "You can pick your own."

The second video we have for you was actually the first one we recorded from the two days of sessions. We had never met Charlotte Brimner before and only heard a couple of songs but she instantly blew us away with her refreshing and unique sound. We would have been quite happy if she had just sat and played all day. The Dundee lass was also joined by fellow Dundonian Robbie Ward from Anderson McGinty Webster Ward and Fisher. Two brilliantly talented artists in the one room; and that was just our first session of the day.

That's all for this edition, we will be back soon with news of some very special gigs we are involved with in Inverness including Algernon Doll and Garden of Elks in July at Mad Hatters.
