TWELVE cases of coronavirus have been confirmed within the last week in Moray, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 1781.

This a big reduction on the 36 cases confirmed in last week's update – which was already significantly down on the 95 cases confirmed the week prior.

With no new deaths recorded, the number of people to have died due to Covid-19 in Moray remains 40.

Of those 40, 30 have tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 10 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

While the number of positive cases is down so is the rate of testing. A total 467 negative Covid-19 tests have been confirmed since May 18 – down on the 1010 negative tests confirmed in last week's update.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 15,422 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

That's an increase of 72 on the 15,350 reported last week.
