Elgin fire on Edgar Road being treated as wilful by police as 14-year-old is charged





A teenager has been charged after a deliberately-started bush fire in the middle of Elgin.

Police Scotland confirmed that a 14-year-old has been charged in connection with the fire in the Edgar Road area, on Wednesday (April 23).

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 2.10pm on Wednesday, April 23, we were made aware of a fire within bushes in the Edgar Road area of Elgin.

"The fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. There were no persons injured.

“The fire is being treated as wilful.

"A 14-year-old has been charged in connection with the fire and a report will be sent to the relevant authorities."
