BAGS of Help cash has helped 150 community groups in Moray achieve their wish-list projects since 2015.

Tesco has delivered more than £400,000 in grants across the area since its Bags of Help scheme launched. The scheme is run in partnership with charity Groundwork and greenspace Scotland.

Customers can vote for community projects with a blue token every time they shop at Tesco stores.

Outdoor learning and adventure charity Outfit Moray, based in Lossiemouth, is one of the latest recipients. Its £4,000 grant will be spent delivering a school holiday adventure programme across the area this summer.

Karen Cox, of Outfit Moray, said: "From kayaking to gorge climbing, we offer our young people the chance to build their self-confidence and self-esteem, using the stunning landscapes around us as their classroom, where they can learn fresh skills and enjoy new experiences.

"Our Bags of Help funding will help support the delivery of our summer programme this year, ensuring we reach and support even more of our young people."

Tony McElroy, head of communications for Tesco in Scotland, said: "Bags of Help has been supporting Scottish communities since 2015. It really is a fantastic opportunity for local groups to bag the funding they need to deliver for their communities, and we’re delighted to see Outfit Moray and the young people across the area benefiting from it."

Bags of Help cash is available to community groups and charities looking to fund local projects that benefit communities. Anyone can nominate a project and applications are made online. To find out more visit www.tesco.com/bagsofhelp.
