17 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray, taking total to 191

SEVENTEEN new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray since last Wednesday, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 191.

This is an increase of one on the 16 confirmed last week. Since October 20, a total of 384 negative covid-19 tests have been returned by residents of Moray.

The area continues to have fewer cases of covid-19 than any other mainland area in Scotland.

The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Moray is 22, with one death confirmed last week . Of those who have died, 14 have tested positive for covid-19 and died within 28 days and eight have had covid-19 mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 3268 cases of coronavirus. That's an increase of 213 cases since last week's update, down on the increase of 239 which was recorded last week.

Moray neighbourhood update

The newly-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the area are spread right across Moray.

Cases have been confirmed in Forres, Elgin, Buckie and Lossiemouth.

Three neighbourhood areas, Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava, Burghead, Roseisle and Laich and Mosstodloch, Portgordon and Seaward, also have positive cases.

Scotland-wide update

Today's daily update shows 1202 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus overnight, with 28 deaths of people who tested positive for the virus confirmed.

During the week ending October 28, 50,419 people were newly-tested with 9500 testing positive for the first time. That's up on the 8218 who tested positive for the first time in the week ending October 21, from 46,065 newly-tested.

Since the outbreak began, a total of 968,169 people in Scotland have been tested for covid-19, with 60,403 positive and 907,766 negative.

In the week ending October 25, 106 deaths were recorded where covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. That's up on the 75 who died the week prior.

A total of 4482 people have now died across Scotland since the outbreak began. Of those, 2754 tested positive and died within 28 days.

A total of 85 people are in intensive care in relation to covid-19, with 1117 in hospital.

In total, 5462 patients who have tested positive for covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5.
