362 test positive in Moray during past week

A total of 362 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Moray during the last week.

This is a slight increase on the 337 cases recorded previously.

The new cases take the area's total since the outbreak began to 7470.

However there has been no increase in the death toll which still stands at 57.

The official figures do not state whether any of the cases in Moray involve the Omicron variant.

In addition, they no not record how many patients have been hospitalised.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 58,720 cases.

This is fourth highest figures amongst Scotland's health boards.

Moray neighbourhood update

All of Moray's 24 'neighbourhood areas' confirmed at least three cases of coronavirus between November 29 and December 5.

Elgin was again the worst-hit town in Moray, with a total of 104 cases – an increase on the 92 recorded previously.

Meanwhile, there were 34 cases in Buckie – down 12 from last week.

A total of 11 cases were confirmed in Forres, down nine from last week.

Lossiemouth had 17, compared to 30.

Keith and Fife Keith had 14, compared to 18.

Lhanbryde, Urquhart, Pitgavney and seaward: 15

Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock: 15

Burghead, Roseisle and Laich: 13

Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava: 13

Rural Keith and Strathisla: 11

Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish: 10

South Speyside and the Cabrach: seven

Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward: six

North Speyside: three

Moray vaccination update

The number of people aged 12 plus in Moray to have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is 70,309. This accounts for 83.6 per cent of the eligible population.

The number to have received one dose is 77,217 – or 91.8 per cent of those eligible.

In total, 38,084 people aged 12 plus have received a booster/third jab.

Almost 6000 people have been given this vaccine in the last week, with 45.3 per cent of the eligible population now triple jabbed.
