59 coronavirus cases confirmed within last seven days in Moray

FIFTY-NINE cases of coronavirus have been confirmed within the last seven days in Moray, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 1903.

This is an increase on the 18 cases confirmed last week. Meanwhile, 588 negative Covid-19 tests have been confirmed since June 21.

With no new deaths recorded, the number of people to have died due to Covid-19 in Moray remains 40.

Of those 40, 30 have tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 10 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 18,050 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

Moray neighbourhood update

Eleven 'neighbourhood areas' in Moray have confirmed at least three cases of coronavirus between June 21 and June 27.

Lossiemouth and Buckie are the towns worst hit by coronavirus cases – with 15 in Lossie (10 Lossiemouth East and Seatown, 5 Lossiemouth West) and 14 in Buckie (10 Buckie West and Mains of Buckie, 4 Buckie Central East).

A total of 10 cases were confirmed in Elgin (4 Elgin Bishopmill East and Ladyhill, 3 Elgin Central West, 3 New Elgin West), while three cases were confirmed in Keith and Fife Keith.

Other areas affected are: Burghead, Roseisle and Laich (5), Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock (4) and Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry (3).

Scotland-wide update

Across Scotland in the last week, 68,551 people were newly-tested for Covid-19 with 20,511 testing positive for the first time.

Since the outbreak began, 2,250,458 people in Scotland have been tested at least once, with 281,222 positive and 1,969,236 negative.

During the week ending June 27, 17 deaths were registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Scotland's death toll from coronavirus is 10,168. A total of 7716 people have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

A total of 19 people are in intensive care in relation to Covid-19, with 235 patients in hospital.

In total, 16,345 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5, 2020.
