78 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray within last week

SEVENTY-EIGHT cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last seven days, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 2519.

This is an increase on the 74 cases confirmed in last Wednesday's update, but down on the 91 and 144 confirmed in the weeks prior to that.

The number of people in the area to have died due to Covid-19 since the outbreak began remains 42.

Of those 42, 32 have tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 10 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

A total of 516 people have tested negative for Covid-19 since August 3.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 23,780 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began – up 768 from last week's update.

Moray neighbourhood update

Thirteen different 'neighbourhood areas' in Moray confirmed at least three cases of coronavirus between August 2 and August 8.

The worst hit area is Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock with 12 cases.

Elgin confirmed seven cases, Lossiemouth six, Forres four and Keith and Fife Keith three.

Other areas with cases are: Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry (9), North Speyside (7), Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward (4), Burghead, Roseisle and Laich (4), Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava (3) and Rural Keith and Strathisla (3).

The number of people aged 18 plus fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in Moray is 66,074, which is 85.3 per cent of the area's adults.

In the last week, 571 people have been given their second jab.

Moray has the highest percentage of people fully vaccinated on mainland Scotland.

A total of 70,918 (91.5 per cent of Moray's adult population) have received one dose of a vaccine.

Across the NHS Grampian health board region, 88.6 per cent of adults (419,778 people) have received a first dose, with 76.5 per cent (362,073 people) having been fully vaccinated.

In Scotland, 4,034,420 people have received their first jab and 3,375,524 people have received both.
