THE new operators of an Elgin hotel say they are delighted to add it to their portfolio and excited to explore its potential.

The Eight Acres Hotel is now under the management of Perth-based 7H (UK), who are looking to tactically reposition the hotel and add value to the asset.

The three-star 52 bed hotel has been acquired by Thai-based Lake Merritt Hospitality Holdings as part of their UK hotel portfolio. That includes hotels in York, Edinburgh and Windermere, which recently closed in preparation for £5 million upgrades.

7 Hospitality management said they are pleased to be appointed managers of the hotel, which they described as a fantastic asset to their fast-growing portfolio.

Managing director Richard Ellison said: "We’re delighted to add Eight Acres to the 7H family. General manager Brian Haddleton and his team are a great addition to our growing portfolio.

"The hotel sits in a great strategic position on the A96 and has great potential which we are excited to explore."

7H manages both branded and unbranded hotels across the UK. The Eight Acres was previously part of the Crerar Hotel Group, with the sale to the Lake Merritt group confirmed earlier this month.
