83 coronavirus cases confirmed in Moray within the last week

EIGHTY-THREE new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 2602.

This is a slight increase on the 78 cases confirmed in last week's update.

A total of 582 people have tested negative for Covid-19 since August 10, up from 516 last week.

The number of people in the area to have died due to Covid-19 since the outbreak began remains 42.

Of those 42, 32 have tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 10 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 24,453 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began – up 673 from last week's update.

Moray neighbourhood update

Fourteen different 'neighbourhood areas' in Moray confirmed at least three cases of coronavirus between August 9 and August 15.

Elgin and Lossiemouth have the most cases, with 16 in the former and 12 in the latter.

Forres, Buckie and Keith and Fife Keith have all confirmed five cases.

Rural areas with cases are: Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock (8), North Speyside (7), Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley (6), Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry (5) and Burghead, Roseisle and Laich (4),

The number of people aged 18 plus fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in Moray is 66,492, which is 85.8 per cent of the area's adults.

In the last week, 418 people have been given their second jab.

A total of 71,084 (91.7 per cent of Moray's adult population) have received one dose of a vaccine.

Across the NHS Grampian health board region, 88.9 per cent of adults (420,831 people) have received a first dose, with 78.6 per cent (372,034 people) having been fully vaccinated.

In Scotland, 4,065,970 people have received their first jab and 3,498,257 people have received both.
