87 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray in the last seven days

EIGHTY-SEVEN cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 1990.

This is an increase on the 59 cases confirmed last week. Meanwhile, 681 negative Covid-19 tests have been confirmed since June 28.

With no new deaths recorded, the number of people to have died due to Covid-19 in Moray remains 40.

Of those 40, 30 have tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 10 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 19,737 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

Neighbourhood areas

Eleven 'neighbourhood areas' in Moray confirmed at least three cases of Covid-19 between June 28 and July 4.

Lossiemouth (13), Buckie (11), Elgin (10) and Forres (7) have all confirmed cases.

The area with the most cases in Moray is Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava with 15.

Other areas with cases are: Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish (6), Cullen, Porknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock (4) and Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry (4).

Scotland-wide update

Across Scotland in the last week, 64,144 people were newly-tested for Covid-19 with 22,425 testing positive for the first time.

Since the outbreak began, 2,314,602 people in Scotland have been tested at least once, with 303,647 positive and 2,010,955 negative.

During the week ending July 4, 21 deaths were registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Scotland's death toll from coronavirus is 10,189. A total of 7740 people have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

A total of 34 people are in intensive care in relation to Covid-19, with 387 patients in hospital.

In total, 16,554 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5, 2020.
