Triathlon held in Moray combines run or walk, yoga and wellbeing session and is the first of its kind in Scotland

“The triathlon everyone can win” takes place this weekend - and it’s guaranteed to make you feel good.

The Moray Well-A-Thon promises to be the first event of its kind in Scotland when it is held in Craigellachie on Saturday.

A first of its kind in Scotland, the wellbeing event is led by Moray trio Deidre Christensen-Main Sally Bruce and Morgan Bruce.

Organised by local yoga and fitness instructor Morgan Bruce, her mother Sally and family friend Deidre Christensen-Main, the challenge strays away from the usual swimming, cycling and running pursuits.

Designed for almost anyone to take part, it combines either a 5km run or gentler 3km walk with a yoga session and a wellbeing workshop.

“It’s an exciting new event that hasn’t been done in Scotland yet,” said Morgan. “This is a non-race style event where everyone is encouraged to take part and get themselves out in nature.”

She explained how the walk and run part of the challenge is led by her family’s business, the Skedaddle Speyside running store in Fochabers.

“The route also has wheelchair access should anyone wish to take part unable to run or walk,” Morgan added.

“The yoga is guided by myself (MoggsPT) and the session will also be for all levels with adaptations where required.

“It is focussing more on the connection of breath and movement and less on getting yourself into challenging postures that people so often think yoga entails.”

Finally, the wellbeing exercise is hosted by Deidre from Freedom Coaching. “Deidre is a Speyside-based life coach who specialises in chronic pain management, however will be focussing on joy and how to welcome it into your life through exercises and daily practice.

“The three components will take part one after the other with light lunch, snacks, teas and coffees provided throughout the day for all participants,” Morgan added.

Held in Craigellachie, everyone who takes part will receive a medal and a complimentary drink at the Craigellachie Hotel on completion.

“We are also searching for local makers, bakers and creators who may wish to have a stall on the day from 9am-3pm in Craigellachie,” said Morgan.

“This will be a great opportunity to have a mini market of both crafts and holistic products to discover from local suppliers.”

Discounts will be offered to anyone involved with the emergency services.
