A96 at Lhanbryde could reopen on Friday

IT IS now expected that the A96 will not reopen at Lhanbryde until Friday.
Work has been progressing to reinstate the road following a burst water main on Tuesday.
Engineers from Scottish Water completed the repair on Wednesday and a roads team has been working to relay the road surface.
Trunk road operator BEAR Scotland is working closely with Scottish Water and their contractor to ensure the repair is completed to the required standard and the road can re-open as quickly as possible.
A spokesman for Scottish Water said: "To allow sufficient time for the repaired road surface to be able to bear the weight of traffic without risk of disruptive remedial work, it is now expected that the road will not be ready to re-open until Friday. In the meantime, the established diversion via Inchberry will remain in place.
A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “Our team worked through the night (Tuesday) to complete a challenging repair and enable the water network to be returned to normal operation in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
“The reinstatement and repair of an extensive area of the road has taken longer than originally anticipated.
“We are continuing to work with BEAR to enable the road to re-open safely as soon as possible, but apologise for the inconvenience caused by this delay. We are grateful for road users’ patience and would ask people to continue to allow extra time for journeys and consider alternative routes where possible.”
