RESURFACING work on the A96 at Lhanbryde is continuing this morning.

The road has been shut since Tuesday following a burst water main.

The main was repaired by engineers from Scottish Water yesterday and a base layer of tar laid.

Another course was due to be laid this morning.

A Scottish Water spokesman said: "Because of the extent of the excavation, there is a programme of inspection with BEAR at each stage – with a focus on ensuring the road surface is safe, but also minimising the risk of disruptive remedial work being required."

Diversions have been in place via Inchberry while the road remains closed.

The burst water main was close to Threaplands garden centre.
